Many of these flowers came to be known as Christmas flowers owing to the fact that they are winter flowers and hence are in full bloom during winters. The availability of these flowers, with time, became one of the reasons why they became so closely related to the festival.

Christmas flowers in the rest of the world also comprise of carnations, roses, lilies and several others. While the beauty of the natural flowers is unparallel, many people also experiment with artificial flowers available to all in the ranges of dry flowers as well as silk and plastic varieties.
